Advanced Massage Therapy & Bodywork
The majority of our practice consists of therapeutic bodywork which many clients incorporate into a monthly wellness plan.
We offer relaxation massage, therapeutic massage and sports massage along with specialized TMJ, Neck and Back work.
You are likely wondering, “What is Advanced Massage Therapy?”.
The advanced practitioner has spent years developing the skills, creativity, instinctive and intuitive perception to work effectively and without hesitation, while the novice or inexperienced therapist must continually strive to learn the necessary building blocks.
Athletes looking for more than a general massage will be pleased to know that we have worked with elite distance runners, competitive Olympic Trials swimmers, master-level and teacher ranked martial artists, along with MLB, MiLB, NBA, and NFL athletes. We have also worked with blues, country, pop/rock and classically trained concert musicians and vocalists.
We know that each person utilizes their body in their own unique way; we’ll take the time to listen to what you have to say. When you walk through our doors, you are never "just another number". Our sessions are tailored specifically to your individual needs.
We will identify your complaint, find the best way to create change and work intelligently toward that end by customizing a massage session that is especially for you.
For example, if you are a police officer who has lower back issues due to carrying a weapon or wearing a heavy belt throughout the day, we'll take the time to talk about your concerns and provide useful options that we’ve seen to be helpful for your particular problem.
Or, if you have been referred to us by your neurologist, orthopedist, dentist or health care practitioner, we'll provide sessions according to the referral, after your prescription and concerns have been reviewed.
Do you have TMJ pain and need very specialized neck and jaw work? We can spend an entire hour just on the head and neck if necessary, and have found the results to be quite beneficial for most clients who suffer with TMJ pain. However, we also understand that some TMJ issues may be reduced by working at an area the further from the perceived problem, which can allow for movement and softening to be translated into the area through a different path.
Perhaps you are a musician who has forearm issues. We'll listen to your history in order to find out more about how you hold and/or use your particular guitar, drum kit, cello, etc. You may need a whole session which concentrates on the neck, shoulders, upper back and forearms; or perhaps you require deep relaxation work prior to an intense concert. We’ll work with your to find the best fit for your needs.
And, if you just need a massage to decrease stress, look no further. There is a reason why we have both worked "on-call" for the concierge at the Four Seasons, St. Regis, Lancaster and other Houston luxury hotels in the past; we are very adept at relaxation-based Swedish work.
Our goal is to provide you with our best work, each and every time you visit our practice.
Most of our clients choose 1½ hour sessions, stating the extended table time past the typical one hour segment provides for a better overall experience. However, you are always welcome to schedule a 1 hour massage therapy session.
We can also provide a session of 2 or more hours, if needed.
Your appointment is scheduled for the full amount of time on the table. Please visit our FAQ’s for more information.
Types of Massage
Therapeutic, Deep Tissue Massage and Medical Massage
Manual therapy sessions such as therapeutic, deep tissue and medical massage use concentrated techniques for specific target muscle tissues, which in turn can enhance performance and encourage the release of problem patterns that cause pain.
It should be noted that these sessions do not require the application of high force techniques to obtain results, and that deep work can also be gentle when the application is slow and mindful.
Clients suffering from tension and migraine headaches regularly find great benefit, as do individuals with deep seated muscular aches and pains. Combined in this category are sessions consisting of Specialized TMJ, Neck and Back work.
A relaxation massage generally uses long slow strokes over tense muscles, which encourages an overall relaxed feeling.
This is especially helpful when sleep patterns are altered or the stress and strain of day to day activities begins to overload one’s mind and body.
If you just want to unravel, there is no better way than through the “deep Swedish relaxation” session; this slow-paced, moderately weighted bodywork allows the body to unwind and coast into a tranquil state.
Massage Therapy and Reflexology clients are not adjusted during their sessions and should never feel pressured toward chiropractic care. We treat each section of our practice as a separate entity. Of course, you are welcome to choose back to back sessions of bodywork methods if you wish.
Some clients will ask for a massage therapy session to be followed by a reflexology or chiropractic session, while others may ask for a chiropractic session to be followed by a massage or reflexology session.
A really nice way to end the day is to make arrangements for a 2 hour block of time which incorporates a massage followed by a reflexology session.
We are happy to provide these combination appointments (unless there are medical contraindications). All we ask is that you please remember they must be booked advance of your scheduled appointment, as we can rarely accommodate additional time requests once you have arrived for your session.
